Get started with Invisalign!

August 17, 2018

As many of you probably know, here at Ballard Dental Arts we offer Invisalign clear aligner therapy in our office. Recently, our office became an Invisalign Gold Provider. We’re one of 4 providers in the greater Seattle area and we are so happy to offer this service to our patients.

There are many benefits of Invisalign besides just the aesthetic factor.  Teeth that are crowded or malaligned are more difficult to clean and can lead to poor periodontal health. This can damage the bone and gums and result in tooth loss. Areas that are more difficult to brush are also more prone to tooth decay if plaque is not being removed effectively. In addition to potential periodontal improvement, straightening your teeth properly distributes biting forces and prevents uneven wear, which can weaken the teeth. By evenly distributing pressure this also reduces further gum recession.

To help illustrate all the benefits, we’ve incorporated the use of the Itero scanner. This scanner allows us to create your aligners by taking a 3D image of your teeth and eliminates the need for impressions. We also use this image to create a simulation model of how your teeth will look after they are aligned. We’ve included a short video below which shows how the scan is taken.

The doctors at Ballard Dental Arts are certified providers of Invisalign Aligner Therapy. If you would benefit from treatment, the doctors along with your hygienist will discuss your options. We always provide free consultations to help determine the benefits of Invisalign for your specific case and if this treatment is right for you. The consultations allow us to see the progress that can be made, as well as determine which level of treatment will best suit your case. There are three different levels of Invisalign; Express, Lite and Full. The plan that benefits you will be determined based on how much tooth movement is needed and how many aligners you need to reach your desired outcome. The length of treatment is determined by how many aligners are required. Typically trays are switched every two weeks and you’ll come in to see us every 6 weeks to track your progress!

If you think Invisalign is right for you, or you want to know more about it, please ask us at your next dental visit. Or call us today to schedule a consultation! (206) 784-3740
